Hello Volleyball Parents!
It's almost time for girls ACE Volleyball at Family Church!
This is Christal Lung, the ACE Director, and I look forward to this time every year. Unfortunately, I am dealing with some unexpected health issues and will not be able to run the program this season. Faced with cancelling altogether, I asked God to send us someone to oversee the practices instead - someone who was young, experienced in volleyball, and loved Jesus. And WHAM - meet Matti McKissock-Oliver. She is in her 20's, was an All-American setter at Georgia Tech and UCLA, and is grounded in the Lord. I think we're in good hands!
You can read more about Matti's volleyball background using this link:

Matti will also be offering volleyball clinics / camps at Family Church this summer and will be opening APEX Volleyball Club this year, so the girls will have options to continue volleyball under her leadership going forward. (I will send more out on this later.)
That said, Matti is only available on Thursdays for the spring season, so we are going to simplify the program to make it easier for her to run. Here are the changes:
- Instead of having specific game nights, each practice will be formatted as this: drills, devotion, then scrimmages for the last hour or so. Parents are welcome to attend and watch anytime they want. (There will not be an official game night/tournaments like in years past.)
- 4th, 5th, and 6th GRADERS will meet Thursdays 5-7pm (From Feb 27 to May 8)
- 4th/5th grade division is FULL- Please DO NOT select another division that is not your child's. Thank you!
- 7th, 8th, and 9th GRADERS will meet Thursdays 7-9pm (From Feb 27 to May 8)
- 7th/8th and 9th grade division is FULL- Please DO NOT select another division that is not your child's. Thank you!
- 10th, 11th,12th plus 9th Graders will meet Mondays 6-8pm (From March 3 to May 5)
- Monday session will be led by Jaclyn Lincoln (played club in high school at the top national level and received D1 offers in college) and assisted by Amanda Franketti (played club for years and most recently played beach at UCF). These two are just like Matti: young, very skilled, and grounded in the Lord. In fact, all three played at TFA.
- NOTE: 9th GRADERS will meet on Mondays with High School and on Thursdays with the 7th/8th Graders
- EXCEPTIONS: No practice Spring Break March 17and 20. Practice on April 17 moved to Tuesday, April 15
- 10th-12th GRADE is welcome to come on Thursdays and volunteer with the younger groups. They should come dressed to play as we will have them interact on the court at times to expedite the level of play for the younger girls. They can also connect with Matti to see if they want to get involved with her clinics and programs in the future.)
- There will not be Evaluations. All practices will be formatted the same.
- There will not be Uniform Fittings. The church will order t-shirts or light work-out shirts with numbers on the back to be worn at each practice. That way, the coaches can still do lineups and follow proper volleyball rules.
NOTE that there will still be a Mandatory Parent Night on March 11 for just the parents (players do not attend). - PARENTS of 4th, 5th, and 6th GRADERS: March 11 from 5:30-6:30p
- PARENTS of 7th, 8th, and 9th GRADERS: March 11 from 6:30-7:30p
- PARENTS of 10th, 11th, and 12th GRADERS: March 11 from 6:30-7:30p
What to wear to practices: (NOTE: we will go over all this at the Parent Night if you're not sure what to get.)
- Uniform top, which will be provided by the church

- Crew socks that cover the ankle (preferably black but not required)
